Masala bread recipe 🍞🥪

 Here's a simple recipe for Masala Bread, a popular Indian savory bread:


Ingredients:


- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

- 1/4 teaspoon salt


- 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast

- 1/2 cup lukewarm water

- 2 tablespoons butter or oil

- Masala mix (see below)


Masala Mix:


- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

- 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder

- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder

- 1/4 teaspoon amchur powder (dried mango powder)

- 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)


Instructions:


1. Activate yeast: Mix yeast, sugar, and lukewarm water. Let it sit for 5-7 minutes until frothy.

2. Make dough: Combine flour, salt, yeast mixture, and butter/oil. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.

3. Rest dough: Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled.

4. Prepare Masala Mix: Mix all spices in a small bowl.

5. Shape dough: Punch down dough, divide into 6-8 portions, shape into balls, and flatten slightly.

6. Add Masala Mix: Sprinkle a pinch of Masala Mix on each dough portion, leaving a small border.

7. Roll and bake: Roll out each portion into a thin circle, about 6-7 inches in diameter. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

8. Serve: Serve hot with butter, jam, or your favorite spread!


Note: You can adjust the amount of spices in the Masala Mix according to your taste preferences.
